Should I submit to directories?

Most directories are not worth submitting to. Beware of anyone offering you thousands of directory submissions for an insignificant amount of money. These links most likely are worth nothing. There are a few large directories worth being added too, but most of them cost money. DMOZ is the best directory to be added too, and is FREE, but the process is very long and it's often near impossible to get included. That may be an exaggeration, but the fact is that humans edit it, which means it takes a long time to get through all of the submissions. Also, editors are chosen applicants that are involved in their specific subject leaving plenty of room for corruption.

If you can find directories that revolve around your niche, these are the ones you want to be included in. If the site gets enough targeted traffic for your niche, it doesn't hurt to try. Be careful though! Many directories are link farms. Having a link from one of these won't hurt you, but if you are required to link back to them, be weary.
