Are blog posts and forum signatures worth adding links to?

Most Blogs and forums are set up with nofollow tags that negate any Search benefits. This doesn't mean they don't have some value if used properly. If your posts are insightful and add value to the sites that host them, you're posts will not be marked as spam and left on the site. If this is done, you may get some traffic from your links. Other than traffic (depending on the quality of your post) you draw the attention of the curious Webmaster of who may link to you (this also depends on the quality and relevance of your content.)
