Is Alexa accurate?

Alexa is only a sampling taken from those that use the Alexa tool bar. Granted, there's a large user base that has them, but it doesn't accurately represent the entire population. It's similar to taking a survey from a small group about something that effects the entire world. Also, it's possible, and not all that difficult, to over-inflate the numbers in Alexa to favor one website or the other.

When evaluating your own traffic, use Google Analytics. GA is often thought to under-represent statistics, but I feel this is safer than having unrealistic positive expectations.
